Mary Dyer Celebrates 100th Birthday
Mary Charlotte Dyer celebrated her 100th birthday at the Knox County Nursing Home on Sunday, May 13th. Ice cream and her favorite cake, Angel Food, were served to the residents, employees, close family and friends. She is enjoying the many cards that she received and appreciates all who remembered her birthday.
Mary was born on a family farm north of Lewistown, Missouri. She attended college at N.E. Missouri State Teachers College (Truman State University) and the University of Missouri at Columbia. She taught elementary school for many years. Through her window at the nursing home, she enjoys watching the school buses take children to and from the Knox County R-1 Schools, which are directly across the highway.
Mary has seen many changes in the world during her lifetime and marvels that she has lived to be 100. Her family attributes her long life to her faith in God, healthy living, involvement with and caring about others, being an avid reader and pure grit.
