Hunter Education Class To be Held in Knox County

    The Missouri Department of Conservation will hold a Hunter Education Class in Knox County,  MO, on Friday, September 21, 2007, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM and , on Saturday, September 22, 2007 from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM in the basement of the First Christian Church on Highway 6 East in Edina.
   There will be periodic breaks and a one hour lunch break on Saturday.  Students need to make plans for their own lunch.
   Students of this class are required to attend both sessions and pass a written test before they can be certified.  Students must also be age eleven (11) before class date to be eligible to take this class.
   Students are asked to bring to class with them their ID or Birth Certificate, Social Security Number, Conservation ID Number found on hunting or fishing permits or Heritage Cards.
   Missouri law requires anyone born on or after January 01, 1967 to take one of these classes before they can purchase a hunting permit of any type except for a youth deer or turkey permit.
   Information included in this class will cover Hunter Education in Missouri, Firearms and Equipment, Basic Shooting Skills, Basic Hunting Techniques, Primitive Hunting, How to be a Safe Hunter, How to be a Responsible and Ethical Hunter, Hunt Preparation and Survival Skills, and Wildlife Conservation, and our role as hunters in conservation.
   This information can be very helpful in preventing an accident with hunting equipment in the home or in the field.  We all know that one accident is one too many!
