Murr and Hamlin Crowned ’07 Cornfest Niblet Royalty

Knox County R-1 seventh grader Lyndsie Poor kicked off the 2007 Knox County Cornfest on Friday, September 7, singing The Star-Spangled Banner. Father Bill Kottenstette of the St. Joseph Catholic Church gave the opening prayer, which was immediately followed by the Cornfest Niblet Royalty Contest.
Daniel Hamlin and Alyssa Murr were crowned Little Mr. and Ms. Niblet at the 2007 Cornfest Royalty Contest.  Daniel is the four-year-old son of Tony and Tracy Hamlin of Edina.  Alyssa, age six, is the daughter of Josh Murr, also of Edina.  Daniel loves being out of doors, among his favorite things are helping to take care of the animals on the family "farm".  Alyssa enjoys swimming, camping, playing dress-up and doing artwork.
 The Niblet candidates were judged in four categories: can decorations, which were rotated to area businesses, the money that was collected in their can, biographies, and interview and appearance at the Cornfest Royalty Contest on Friday evening.  The judges for the contest were three students at Truman State University.
Following the Knox County Rescue Squad Fish Fry, visitors entered the Knox County Health Department Walk-Run or settled down to enjoy musical entertainment provided by Tommy Horton or headed to the beer tent for Karaoke provided by Sly Entertainment.
