KCR-1 Students to Attend JBA

 Knox County R-1 School District is honored to have two students chosen to attend the Joseph Baldwin Academy for Eminent Young Scholars. Academically gifted seventh, eighth and ninth grade students from across the nation are permitted to select one field of study for three weeks of the academy and there they work with of Truman’s finest faculty members. These classes are designed to be an approximate equivalent of a semester-long university course that Truman offers its undergraduates during the regular academic year.
The two Knox County students who will be among the nearly 400 participants at JBA are Olivia Strange and Kellen Gillaspy. Strange is an eighth grader studying Computer Programming and Art Design. She is the daughter of Bobby and Kelly Strange of Rutledge. Seventh grader Kellen Gillaspy’s interests lay with Missouri Mammals Natural History, Ecology and Behavior. He is the son of Jason and Lori Choate of Edina and Gregg and Nancy Gillaspy of Fairfield, Iowa.
