The Knox County R-1 School Board met on Monday morning, at 6:30 a.m. for a special open session meeting, followed by a brief executive session meeting.
Board members voted to transfer the necessary amounts from Fund 1 to Fund 2 and make the allowable transfers from Fund 1 to Fund 4 of $251,621 for necessary building improvements, facilities repair and infrastructure improvements and also be it resolved that the budget for expenditures for the 2007-08 school year be amended to match actual expenditures in each overspent line for the current fiscal year since all expenditures and warrants for their payment have been previously approved by a majority of the Board.
In addition, the preliminary annual budget presented by Superintendent D.J. Leverton was approved.
During the special executive session meeting, Board members voted unanimously to employ Joseph Holman as the new bus mechanic for the 2008-09 school year at the appropriate pay schedule, having just accepted the resignation of former bus mechanic Dale Prather, who was hired in June to replace retiring bus mechanic Phil Gragg.
