The Knox County Cornfestival will return for the 22nd consecutive year on September 5, 6, & 7, 2008.

In spite of questions to the contrary earlier this year, the Knox County Promotional Council and area citizens have banded together to provide this year’s Cornfestival, which promises to be as great as ever.

Cornfest 2008 will kick off on Friday afternoon with the opening prayer and National Anthem by the Clark family, followed by the Knox County Rescue Squad Fish Fry at 5:30 p.m. and entertainment by singer, Jessica Erwin.

Bailey’s Floral and Gifts will sponsor the bed races at 6:00 p.m. Blow-up Games, Game World Event Services, will be open from 6 to 9:00 p.m. Pre-register for the Knox County Health Department Walk-Run at 6:30 p.m. at the water tower; the event begins at 7:00 pm. Also at 7 p.m. is the Doc Anderson Traveling Medicine Wagon Show on the courthouse lawn.

Expressway will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. under the 4-H pavilion, sponsored by the United State Bank, as well as the Boss Hogg & Daisy Duke Look-A-Like contest at 9:00 p.m. From 10 p.m. until 1 a.m., Karaoke will be provided by Sly Entertainment in the beer garden.

On Saturday morning registration for the 9th Annual K.C. Cruisers Car Show will be from 8 a.m. to noon with awards at 3:00 p.m. The Quilt Show by Knox County Kut-Ups will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Harris building next to the Sentinel office.
Grand Marshals for the parade, which begins at 10 a.m., will be the winners of the Boss Hogg & Daisy Duke Look-A-Like contest from the previous evening. Following the parade is the Tractor Show, Antique Tractor Games and Poker Run, as well as the Corn Scramble, sponsored by the Citizen’s Bank of Edina, which will be held in front of The Edina Sentinel office. Blow-up games will be open for enjoyment between the hours of 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The noon meal will be provided by the Knox County Swim Club. Also at noon, parade winners will be announced at the information tent. The Southside Roadrunners 4-H Club Baby Show will be held at 1:00 p.m., as well as the Pedal Tractor Pull, sponsored by Doss Funeral Home. The Slow Bicycle Race, sponsored by Farm Bureau, will be at 1:30. Entertainment will be provided by Four Fifth Quartet Jazz Band under the 4-H Pavilion at 2:00 and the Doc Anderson Traveling Medicine Wagon Show in the courthouse lawn. At 3:00 p.m. the Marsha Taylor Dancers will entertain. Also at 3 p.m. is the barbecue cook-off judging and the frog jumping contest sponsored by the Knox County Meth Coalition. The Pablo Native American Story Teller and Flutist will perform under the 4-H Pavilion at 3:30 followed by the Doc Anderson Traveling Medicine Wagon Show again at 4:00 p.m. and the Redwing Band, performing folk and country music, at 4:30 p.m.
The St. Joseph and St. Aloysius Youth Group Meal will be available at 5:00 p.m. The Doc Anderson Traveling Medicine Show is again at 7:00 p.m. and The Ultraviolets, St. Louis’ #1 party band, will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Ashley Thompson, singer, at 9:00 p.m. Also at 9 p.m., the teen dance, Master D.J. Service, sponsored by the Knox County Smokebusters will be held on the east side of the courtyard. From 10 p.m. to midnight, The Ultraviolets will perform for the street dance, west of the 4-H Pavilion
.
On Sunday morning, a 3-D Archery Stoot will be held at the NEMO Bow & Gun Club, south of Edina. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; scorecards turned in by 3 p.m. At 9 a.m., the 3-on-3 basketball tournament will begin east of the courtyard, sponsored by the Citizen’s Bank of Edina
.
An Ecumenical Church Service will be conducted under the 4-H Pavilion at 10 a.m. Sunday morning, followed by the Southside Youth Center Meal at noon. Cow Chip Bingo, sponsored by the Hurdland Fire Department, will also begin at noon west of the courtyard. Lawnmower races, sponsored by The Farm Shop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. with grand prize drawings also at 3 p.m. in the southeast corner of the courtyard at the information tent.

Additional festival attractions throughout Cornfest weekend will be the Dukes of Hazzard car on display, sponsored by Arment’s Car Care and Arment’s Carpet Cleaning, food and courtyard vendors, train rides, mini golf, bingo, information tent and raffle drawings, water balloon toss and big and small obstacle courses and a Velcro wall.
