 Three-Vehicle Collision in Lewis County Involves C-1 School Bus

A three-vehicle accident involving a school bus occurred in Lewis County on the afternoon of October 2, 2008 resulting in two injuries.

Danny L. Dannenhauer, 56, of Lewistown, MO was traveling westbound in a 2006 Chevrolet 2500, when he slowed and begin to make a right hand turn on MO 6 at 250th street, two miles west of Ewing at Lewis County C-1 Schools. His vehicle was struck by a 2002 Dodge, also traveling westbound, driven by Amanda K. Mixer, 43, of Lewistown, MO, who had failed to yield. Then, Mixer’s vehicle slid into a 2003 Freightliner school bus, traveling southbound, operated by Melanie L. Klingele, 40, also of Lewistown, MO. Summons are pending for Mixer.

Mixer sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Lewis County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL, in addition to an occupant of the school bus, Allison Jercick, 16, of LaBelle, MO, who received minor injuries.

The bus sustained only minor damage and was driven from the scene, while the other two vehicles received extensive damage and were towed by Robert’s Garage in Ewing, MO. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department and Ewing Fire and Rescue.
