Train Derailment in Knox County

TRAIN DERAILED – According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 6:40 a.m. October 24, 2008 thirty-three railroad cars hauling corn grain derailed just west of Route P about five miles northwest of Edina. Both tracks were closed and crews were on location to clean up the corn and debris. The cleanup continued until both tracks were operable. Ongoing investigation will be conducted by the BNSF Railroad.
