New Building for Food Pantry and Food Cupboard
New Building for Food Pantry and Food Cupboard
Submitted by Richard Whiteaker,
KC Food Pantry Board
The Knox County Food Pantry and the Knox County Ministerial Alliance are proud to announce that they have embarked on a bold and exciting adventure in purchasing a building to provide a permanent home for both the Food Pantry and the Knox County Food Cupboard.
This building is on the northwest corner of 2nd and Morgan, across the street from the Edina Post Office and next to the Edina Fire Station in the building known to many as the “Hayes Auction Building.” The two small buildings presently used by the organizations have outlived their usefulness. This opportunity will allow the two groups to better serve the citizens of Knox County, especially those citizens who find themselves, for whatever reason, in need of supplement for themselves and their families.
The present plan is to move the Food Pantry to this new building as soon as possible so the Pantry Board can start operating out of the new site to continue to provide emergency food needs for the Knox County community. The Food Cupboard provides a monthly distribution of donated foods, much of which comes from the Central Missouri Food Bank in Columbia and is planning to move into the building during the month of December. Their first food distribution day from the new facility will be in January.
Volunteers are always needed to help unload the food from the truck from Columbia and distribute food to those in need.
The two groups provide food for those in need in Knox County because they care. These foods shared with those in need in the name of Jesus from donations made by men and women who want to serve Him and their neighbors. May those who are served and those who serve experience the joy of His love.
