Knox County Student Honored As 2009 Girl of Distinction By Girl Scouts of Eastern MO
Tara Mason, a senior at Knox County High School, has been selected as a 2009 Girl of Distinction in the category of Government & Legal.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM), the premier leadership organization for girls, is honoring ten girls and ten women in ten different categories: Creative Arts, Entrepreneurship, Government & Legal, Inspiration, Numbers, Practical Arts, Social Sciences, Sports & Fitness, Technology and The Sciences.
Mason participated in the United States House of Representatives Page Program in Washington, D.C. She has been involved with the Youth Voter Participation Program, served as an election judge, and will be job shadowing the assistant prosecuting attorney for her district.
“We are proud to honor an outstanding group of female leaders who are making a positive difference in our community,” said Marcia Barber, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. “The 2009 Girls and Women of Distinction represent a diversity of impressive accomplishments and reflect the principles of Girl Scouting.”
The 20 award recipients will be honored at the Girls and Women of Distinction awards reception on Tuesday, April 21, at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, Mo.
