Rotary Club Hosts Recognition Night

The Knox County Rotary Club held its annual Recognition Banquet Monday, May 4th in the Knox County High School cafeteria at 6:30 pm. The top ten percent of students in grades sixth through twelfth were recognized and awarded pins, handed out by Rotary member Jeffery Doss, for their achievements. The Knox County High School faculty and staff was also recognized for their varying years of service.
Rotary Club President, Monica Zahn, called the meeting to order.  At that time guests and members recited the Pledge to the American Flag and were then lead by Ms. Margaret Parrish in an invocation. The Rotary Club Members then served dinner to their guests. After everyone had enjoyed their meal, Knox County music students entertained them.
The middle school students recognized were Alison Averill, Alex Hamlin, Caleb Hunziker, Jake Leverton, Brody Moubry, all of the sixth grade. Seventh grade students included Donovan Edwards, Bailey Hunziker, Royce Poore, and Mandy Shoults. Honored Students from the eighth grade were Patrick Gibbons, Kellen Gillaspy, Devon Gudehus, and Mackenzie Hustead.  High school students recognized were Kelsey Cahalan, Kathleen Hinkle, Leann Mayer, and Jessen Miller, of the freshman class. Sophomores awarded were as follows Jamie Adair, Brady James, Stacey Leckbee, Sarah Ritchie, and Kaley Sutton. The top ten percent of juniors were Katie Ausmus, Shelby Bailey, Joshua Clark, Brittney Miller, Lorrie Peters, Jodi Poore, and Tori Yoakum. The seniors honored were Laura Blake, Brett Bryant, Courtney Cahalan, Brandon Gudehus, Tara Mason, Sara Stokes, and Amanda Woods.
   Monica Zahn announced the winners of the Rotary Club Scholarships. This year congratulations go to Courtney Cahalan and Tara Mason.
   Next Mrs. Shelly Bugh, Board of Education President, announced the Knox County Faculty and Staff, and Mr. D.J. Leverton, Superintendent of schools, awarded employees with pins. Steve Blodgett, Julie Campbell, Genel Ellison, Nancy Goodwin, D.J. Leverton, Kay Mallett, and Darrell Shultz were acknowledged for five years of dedication to the school.  Myrna Franke and Judy Shultz were recognized for ten years of loyalty.  Fifteen-year honorees were Sandra Hoskins, Janee Morgret, and Alicia Myers.  Betsy Glasgow was celebrated for her twenty-five years of service to our youth, and for thirty-five years of employment, Marilyn Waite was commended. Also honored were Sandy Davis and Kathy Gonnerman who will be retiring this year.
