Knox County Sheriff’s Reports
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office was called to Newark, MO, on May 26, 2009 at approximately 8:23 p.m. regarding a shooting. Jeff Johnston, age 22, of Newark, MO, had apparently, shot himself accidentally in the abdomen and left leg while target practicing with a .22 caliber pistol.
Johnston was transported by friends to Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO, and was later released that same day.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at approximately 4:30 p.m. two juvenile suspects were arrested on charges of burglary. Guns and other miscellaneous items had been unlawfully taken from a residence in Knox County.
The two male juveniles were taken to the Bruce Normile Detention Center in Kirksville, MO where they are currently being held for burglary charges.
