KC Chamber Officers Elected At Annual Membership Meeting
By Carol Kincaid
The incumbent officers of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce, President Amy Miller, and Vice-President Gail Doss were unanimously re-elected during the July 1 Annual Membership Meeting at The Edina Country Club.
Board members were also re-elected, they include Farm Bureau, Bailey’s Floral and Gifts, Mark Twain Rural Telephone, Doss Funeral Home, the Edina Country Club, The Edina Sentinel, SPIRIT, Bon Air Motel, Hawkins, Insurance Group, and Shelter Insurance.
The membership also reluctantly accepted the resignation of the secretary/ treasurer, Jeanne Bailey. Clarissa Brenizer was chosen for the position, and the Board unanimously approved her nomination.
Tonya Hamlin and daughter Alex were present to confer with Chamber members about their participation in a “horse show”. There was considerable discussion as to whether the Chamber members wanted to actually sponsor a separate “fun” show, or just “work” the show. Those present decided to offer their assistance during the August show.
Members discussed the meal to be served during the 4-H/FFA Fair. It was decided to serve basically the same meal as last year, pork steaks, potato salad, baked beans, and a choice of cookies or watermelon.
The subject of member identification (plaques, flags, etc. stating member status) was brought up, and the idea of “clings” was suggested. Annette Sweet volunteered to check in Kirksville as to the cost of those items.
Members discussed how and when to change by-laws. It was suggested that they be worked on beginning in December, with finalization and voting during the June meeting.
The next meeting will be held August 4 at The Pizza Haus in Edina.
