“On Top of the
World”

 It’s July once again, and youth all over the
county know what that means. The Knox County 4-H and FFA Fair is upon us. This
year’s theme is “4-H and FFA feels like being on top of the world”, and was
created by Tyler of Heartland. The weeklong event begins Monday, July 13th
and continues through Friday, July 17th

 Tuesday, July 7th, the Royalty Tea
will be held at 1:00 pm in the Edina Methodist Church basement. At this time
contestants for 4-H Royalty will be judged.

 Monday, July 13th, is full of
exciting events for 4-H/FFA members to participate in. The Knox County 4-H Dog
Show will be at 1:00 pm at the 4-H building, this event is reserved for 4-H
members and gives the kids the opportunity to present their dogs. From 2:00 pm
until 5:30 pm, the courthouse lawn will be the destination of excitement with
tons of games and activities to participate in. At that time (5:30 pm), the
Citizens Bank of Edina will serve a meal on the west side of the courthouse
lawn. Guest of the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair are invited to visit the 4-H Art
Hall. There, visitors can view what the 4-H members have been working on, the
Art Hall will be open to the public at 5:00 pm. At 7:00 pm a Style Show will be
presented by 4-H Dress Revue Participants, followed by the Art Hall Awards
Program. Immediately after, the 2009 Royalty will be crowned.

 Tuesday, July 14th, area youth can
participate in the Rabbit Show and the Sheep and Lamb Showings at the 4-H
building beginning at 8:00 am and lasting all afternoon. At 5:30 pm the Edina
United Methodist Church will be serving a meal on the courthouse lawn followed
by the Goat and Sheep Style Show to entertain the attendances.

 On Wednesday, check-ins for beef showings
will begin at 9:00 am and continue through the morning, with beef showings that
evening at 5:00 pm. The Knights of Columbus Meal will begin shortly after at
5:30 pm.

 On Thursday, July 16th, Swine and
poultry showing will be conducted at the 4-H building with check-ins starting
at 9:00 am. Thursday evening will be action pact, beginning with the Edina Area
Chamber of Commerce Meal on the courthouse lawn. After your belly is full, you
can watch as area youth compete in the Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair Tractor Pull at
7:00 pm. The Knox County Smokebuster’s will be putting on a Youth Dance, Hoops,
and Eats at 9:00 pm, following the tractor pull.

 Friday, July 17th is the final day
of the 4-H/FFA Fair. At 9:00 am youngsters will be checking in their cattle for
4-H/FFA Dairy Bucket Calf Show and the Open Dairy Show. At 6:00 pm the Knox
County Rescue Squad will be Bar-B-Qing on the east side of the courthouse lawn.
The Awards Presentation will begin a 6:45 pm in the 4-H building and the
4-H/FFA Fair Livestock and Art Hall Sale will begin at 7:30 pm.

 The 4-H/FFA Fair is a local weeklong event
that is fun for the entire family. Members of the Knox County 4-H and FFA
welcome the county to come and see the why “4-H and FFA feels like being on top
of the world!”
