Knox County R-I School District Welcomes New Teachers

The Knox County R-I School District held an orientation for teachers new to the district on August 6 and 7.    The district welcomes nine new teachers to the staff.
Kristin Arnoldussen  is teaching middle school Character Education/Study Skills and high school Social Studies.  Ms. Arnoldussen has recently moved to Kirksville from Wisconsin and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison.  Her interests and hobbies include running, reading, hiking, music, playing softball and volleyball and watching sports.  She looks forward to getting to know all of her students and getting involved in school and community activities.
Becky Barnhill is teaching the computer literacy classes for grades K-8.  Mrs. Barnhill is a graduate of Knox County R-I High School and is proud to be returning to the district as a teacher.  Mrs. Barnhill is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and Buena Vista University.  She lists spending time with family, playing sports and being out-of-doors among her hobbies and interests.  In her first year with the district Mrs. Barnhill is looking forward to getting to know students, staff and administration and is excited to begin the year.
Megan Hines is teaching Kindergarten and she will also be coaching Middle School Track and Softball.  Mrs. Hines is a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan.  In her spare time she is a freelance photographer and owner of Megan Diane Photography and lists her hobbies as quilting, art, photography and gardening.  She looks forward to getting to know the students and families as well as getting to know people of the community and being active in the community.  Mrs. Hines and her husband Chase reside in Arbela.
Karen Hodge is teaching second grade.   Mrs. Hodge and her husband Andy have two sons, Andrew and Landon, both students at Knox County.   Mrs. Hodge is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.  She enjoys reading, cooking, basket weaving, and spending time with family.  Mrs. Hodge is looking forward to a classroom full of happy students who look forward to learning.
Jarod Lovell is teaching middle school Math and will be Assistant Baseball Coach.  Mr. Lovell is a graduate of Missouri Valley College.  He enjoys sports especially baseball, basketball and football, reading, fishing, spending time with family, and visiting friends.  In his first year with the district Mr. Lovell is looking forward to meeting the students and getting to know people in the community.
Elizabeth Monroe is teaching middle school/high school Special Education.  She is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College and has been working for Parents as Teachers in Hannibal for two years.  Ms. Monroe is from Memphis and has a daughter, Emma.  She lists her hobbies and interests as spending time out-of-doors, reading and spending time with family and friends.  She also is looking forward to meeting of her students and their families.
Alison Schmidt is teaching high school English and Drama.  Ms. Schmidt is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College and lists her spare time activities as cheerleading, volleyball, running, directing, and shopping.  She is looking forward to students who aren’t afraid to use their imagination and states that no one should ever lose their creativity streak.
Lacy Schneider is teaching third grade.  Ms. Schneider is a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia and loves to watch MU sports both basketball and football.   She enjoys playing golf, basketball, and softball as well as listening to music and spending with family in her spare time.  Ms. Schneider is very excited to meet the students in her class and looks forward to keeping the fun in learning.
Stephanie Stein is teaching fifth grade.  Ms. Stein is from Canton and a graduate of Culver-Stockton College and has two daughters.  She has been librarian at the Canton Public Library the past six and one-half years.  Ms. Stein enjoys reading, walking, barbequing, as well as, spending time with family.  In her first year with the district, she is looking forward to getting students excited about and loving to read.
