City of Edina To Co- Sponsor Annual Easter Egg Hunt
The Board of Aldermen for the City of Edina met in regular session with Mayor Strickler presiding. All Board members; Gordon Edwards, Tom Morgret, Renee’ Edwards, Donnie Davis, Craig Miller and Albert Hagerla, were present as Mayor Strickler called the seven o’clock meeting at city hall to order.
The minutes from the February 8th, 2010 meeting were recited and unanimously approved by the Board of Aldermen.
The Collector’s and Treasure’s reports were given. Betty Morgret, City Collector, met with the Board and presented the Court Orders of taxes fro 2009 and the non-collectible Court Orders for 2007 and 2008. Motion was made by Craig Miller and seconded by Donnie Davis to approve the Court orders as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Peggy Collinge, City Treasurer, met with the Board. In addition to their financial report, she said the Street and Sanitation Departments should be commended for all their hard work during the harsh winter weather that we have had.
The motion was made by Gordon Edwards and seconded by Donnie Davis to pay all bills as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Brad Eitel, Wastewater Superintendent, met with the Board. He gave his written monthly report to the Board and reported no problems or repairs.
Mike Wriedt, Superintendent of Utilities, met with the Board. He updated the Board on the projects his crew has worked on during the past month. Wriedt said they would begin filling potholes as soon as the weather warms up. The Board agreed to have Spring Clean-up in May. Wriedt agreed to schedule this event and place notice in the Edina Sentinel.
Motion was made by Renee’ Edwards to sponsor the Annual Easter Egg Hunt with Fire Department on Easter Sunday. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Strickler informed the Board that they are invited to an appreciation luncheon Wednesday, March 10th. This is sponsored by the Knox County Smokebusters.
Two of the Board members will be unable to attend the regular meeting in April. Therefore, the April meeting will be moved to Monday, April 19th, 2010.
The city of Edina is a member of the Northeast Missouri Solid Waste Management District and is entitled to one member and an alternate on the council. Motion was made by Tom Morgret and seconded by Craig Miller to appoint David Strickler to represent the City, with Gordon Edwards being alternate. Motion carried unanimously.
Due to the recent death of Tom B. Brown, former City Attorney, Mayor Stickler said he wished to express his sympathy to the family. Mr. Brown was the city Attorney for over forty years. Mayor Strickler said the City of Edina was gracious of all his years of service Mr.
Brown offered the City. As a tribute, the flag at City Hall was flown at half-staff until Saturday, March 13th, when Mr. Brown was laid to rest.
The motion was made by Albert Hagerla and seconded by Tom Morgret to adjourn. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned.
