Culpepper & Merriweather Circus Coming To Edina
Sunday, May 2

The Knox County Chamber of Commerce is bringing the Culpepper & Merriweather one ring Big Top Circus to town. Exotic animals, acrobats, and clowns will invade Edina Sunday May 2, 2010 and they have extended an open invitation to anyone, especially children, who want to come take part in an old fashioned tent raising. The Big Top will go up between 9:30 and 10:00am in the empty field north of the Courthouse, next to the 4-H Pavilion. There will be no charge for the tent raising and a free tour of the circus grounds will be offered.
Two 90 minute shows are scheduled for 2:00 and 4:30pm that day. The concession stand and midway will open at 1:00pm.
Advance tickets are available at Shelter Insurance, Doss Funeral Home, US Bank, and the Preferred Family Spirit Office in Edina. Advanced tickets are $6 for children 2 to12 and $9 for adults. At the door tickets will be $7 for children and $12 for adults. Children under two are free.
A good portion of the proceeds of all advanced ticket sales will go directly back to the Knox County Chamber of Commerce thus back into the local economy.. 25 percent of all children’s tickets and 50 percent of all adult tickets bought in advance will stay right here in Knox County so be sure to buy your tickets in advance.
Several local businesses have already purchased and donated a number of tickets to local kids who can’t afford to go otherwise.
After the second show the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will slough down and be gone that evening.  From set up to slough down they will be here and gone the same day.
This is the first event of it’s kind the Knox County Chamber of Commerce has sponsored and hopes are high for a successful event.
