Fire Destroys Machine Shed

Edina Fire Chief Martin Edwards said the Edina Fire Department and the Baring Fire Department responded to a fire at the Gerald Sharp residence located one half mile north of New City Lake Saturday June 5th 2010. When fire fighters arrived at the scene they found a machine shed on the north side of the Sharp residence burning.
Chief Edwards told me Saturday afternoon the call went out at 10:46am and the structure was a complete loss. He did not know if there will be an investigation on the cause of the fire but said, “Right now we suspect lightning may have caused it.” Adding, “Two tractors, a combine, two gravity flow wagons, a hay bailer, and a pickup truck were lost in the fire.”
Rebecca Sharp, who was home when machine shed caught fire, said, “I looked out the window and saw smoke.” Adding “I think a neighbor called it in.”
Mrs. Sharp told me they do have insurance on the shed and will be waiting to see what happens next. She is thankful no people or animals were injured in the blaze.
“The shed was 50 by 75 feet. It’s pretty much gone.” Said Mrs. Sharp.
