Get Ready For Cowboy Boots, Country Roots At The Knox County
4-H/FFA Fair

By Echo Menges

It won’t be long before the 4-H Pavilion behind the Knox County Courthouse is loaded with livestock and local youth who are literally carrying the future of Knox County Agriculture with them. They are the future generation of Missouri at her finest. The future leaders of our community.
The Knox County 4-H Program and the Future Farmers of America are a whole lot more than a few after school clubs. They are two programs focused on helping local youth develop into structured and productive citizens by encouraging them to learn, experience, and grow.
“Learn By Doing” and “Learn To Do” are the slogans 4-H and FFA echo to their members and this month they’ll be busy showing off the last year’s worth of their hard work, patience, and practice. A whole year of hard work from Knox County’s young.
The Knox County 4-H/FFA, Cowboy Boots Country Roots, Fair is July 12th through July 16th, 2010. They will be all around the Edina Town Square showing animals and exhibits. The five-day event will last all day every day complete with a different dinner served every evening.
Each meal will be provided by a different Knox County organization, business, or church. Dinners will be served at 5:00pm on the Courthouse lawn each day of the fair. Monday’s meal will be free for everyone and the following dinners will be served for a modest price.
You don’t have to be an agriculture or livestock expert to appreciate these kids or what they’re doing. You don’t have to be a farm buff to understand what they’re gaining by being able to showcase their talents and interests.
In most cases the winners of the contests at this years 4-H/FFA Fair will move on to to compete at the Missouri State Fair. An opportunity coveted by these local youth.
The event is long and vast enough to offer something for everyone. 4-H and FFA youth will be showing everything from art and photography to livestock and veterinary practices. So come on, come out, and support our local 4-H and FFA youth by attending this year’s 4-H/FFA Fair. Come out, encourage, and support our youth and our future.
