Knox County R-I School District Welcomes New Teachers
The Knox County R-I School District held an orientation for teachers new to the district on August 11 and 12. The district welcomes five new teachers to the staff.
Wendy Kerby is teaching fifth grade. Mrs. Kerby is a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University and Western Governors University. She previously worked for the Adair County R-2 School District in Brashear, MO as a library paraprofessional and Director of the after school program. She has 12 years of social work experience prior to that. Mrs. Kerby and her husband Brett reside in Brashear with their son and daughter.
Anna Schmidt is teaching first grade. Ms. Schmidt is a graduate of Truman State University. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and watching football. A native of Macon, MO she is looking forward to the school year and teaching for the Knox County School District.
Brianne Shaver is teaching kindergarten. Ms. Shaver is a graduate of Truman State University. She enjoys visiting family in Illinois, reading, and running long distances in her spare time. In her first year with the district, Ms. Shaver is looking forward to meeting her students and getting to know people in the community.
Anthony Webb is teaching instrumental music for the middle school and high school. He will be the band director. Mr. Webb is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College where he directed the college’s pep band. A native of Sullivan, MO, he is anxious to start teaching and watching the band program at our district grow.
Alex VanDelft is teaching physical education and health for the middle school and high school. Mr. VanDelft is a graduate of Truman State University. Coach VanDelft will head the football and track programs for our school district. As a new resident to Edina, MO, he is looking forward to getting to know people, being active in the community and starting his teaching career.
