EVERETT L. KURK
Everett Lee Kurk, age 91, of LaBelle, Missouri, died Sunday, September 19, 2010, at the LaBelle Manor Care Nursing Home in LaBelle, Missouri.
Mr. Kurk was born April 28, 1919, in Missouri the son of John Ruben and Julia Ann Waters Kurk. He was united in marriage to Alvessa Louise Preston on January 11, 1941 at Shelbyville, Missouri and they were married 63 years. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2004. Everett was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Lee Kurk and three brothers Lloyd, John and Francis Kurk.
Surviving are two children, Shirley Adams and husband Glenn of Carthage, Tennessee, and Brenda Preston Kurk of Arizona, three grandchildren, Michael Patrick and wife Teresa, Michelle Lloyd and husband Jeff and Isaac Dell, six great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jenna, Jamie, and Justin Lloyd, Wade and Shae Patrick, one daughter-in-law, Judy Kurk of Quincy, Illinois, a former son-in-law Gary Butch Patrick of LaBelle, Missouri and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Everett was engaged in farming in the Bethel and Steffenville area until 1961 when he moved to Arizona where he was employed for Motorola as a maintenance worker in Scottsdale, Arizona. He then moved to Joplin, Missouri where he continued to work for Motorola until his retirement in 1982. In 2003 he moved to LaBelle, Missouri. Everett loved gardening, camping, traveling and fishing. He was a member of the First Christian Church of LaBelle, Missouri. Everett was an avid softball fan especially of the Highland Cougar Team.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri. Pastor Joe Jorgensen officiated the services. Burial was in the Asbury Chapel Cemetery.
