Council Meets To Discuss Filling Open Collector Position

By Echo Menges

The Edna City Council held a special meeting at 7:00pm Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Edina City Hall to discuss filling the position of City Collector, which was vacated by Betty Morgret less than a week before. The Mayor and all the Council members, except Craig Miller, who was out of town, were in attendance along with the City’s Treasurer, Peggy Collinge.
The Council discussed the City Collector’s job description and the skills required to fill the position. They also spent some time talking about the possibility of eliminating the position and hiring a billing clerk instead and the possibility of having the Knox County Collector, Brent Karhoff, collect the City’s taxes at the end of the year.
The meeting was closed after an hour and a half of discussion so the Council could go over some prospective candidates.
Another special meeting is scheduled to take place at the Edina City Hall Monday, September 27, 2010 at 7:00pm.
