Boy Killed In Crash South Of Rutledge

A traffic accident on Route M two miles south of Rutledge took the life of nine year old Larry Hoover of Rutledge Wednesday, October 27, 2010. A 12-year-old boy was also seriously injured in the accident and was taken by helicopter from the scene of the accident to the University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report the two youth were riding a 1996 Badger 90cc mini bike on Route M two miles south of Rutledge at approximately 7:15pm Wednesday evening when they were hit by a 1997 Dodge pickup truck being driven by Joseph Martin, 18, of Rutledge, who was traveling north on State Route M. It is unknown which direction the two youth on the mini bike were traveling.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Ambulance, Rutledge Fire and Rescue, and Scotland County EMS responded to the call. According to the MSHP there have been 21 traffic related fatalities in Troop B’s jurisdiction this year.
