Man Arrested For Felony Child Endangerment

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report BJ Butler, 23, of Popular Bluff, MO, was arrested by MSHP in Lewis County early Monday evening, October 10, 2011 and charged with Felony Endangering The Welfare Of A Child and Third Degree Domestic Assault. Butler was taken to the Lewis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
According to court documents Butler was charged the following day in Knox County Circuit Court with a First Degree Felony count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child by the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office. The charge carries a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison and a minimum of one year in county jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
“He is charged with child endangerment because he left a child under the age of 17 along the side of the road in Knox County but was picked up in Lewis County,” said Assistant Knox County Prosecutor, Jo Fortney.
Butler’s Arraignment hearing has bees scheduled for October 25, 2011 in front of Knox County Circuit Judge William Alberty. He is currently being held in the Lewis County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
In a court of law a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
