KCPC Elects New Officers

KCPC Elects New Officers

By Echo Menges

The Knox County Promotional Council, who is responsible for organizing the Knox County Corn Festival, met Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Hawkins Insurance building. The council elected and re-elected executive officers for the year and worked on committee assignments.
After four years as their fearless leader, Monica Zahn stepped down and away from the council saying, “Thank you for putting up with me for four years. I had a really good time.”
Zahn said she decided not to be part of the planning of the corn festival in order to spend more time with her family.
Several other key organizers have decided to step away from KCPC this year in order to work on other projects. The group is in need of volunteers to help organize the 2012 event.
“Right now the main thing is to get the community’s help with putting on the corn fest.” Said newly elected KCPC President, Jamie McCabe, who has been working with KCPC on the Board of directors and on various corn festival committees over the past ten years.
McCabe took the reigns over during the meeting. Her first order of business is to recruit more community members to help organize the event.
The next KCPC meeting will be Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the University of Missouri Extension Office in Edina at 6:30 p.m. The group urges anyone interested in planning the 2012 Knox County Corn Festival to attend. Everyone is welcome.
