Fatal Accident In Knox County

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report Troy D. Lawrence, 37, of Kirksville was fatally injured in a four-vehicle accident in Knox County on Tuesday, January 17, 2012.The accident happened on Highway 11 approximately four miles west of Baring at about 6:30 p.m.
Lawrence was west bound when he struck a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Ira Hoover, 40, of Hurdland in the rear. Hoover was eastbound on the highway and making a left turn into a driveway when his vehicle was struck.
According to the report, after Lawrence’s vehicle struck Hoover’s vehicle it traveled into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a 2006 Ford driven by Joseph Fulk, 54, of Memphis.A 2004 Pontiac driven by Joseph Shaver, 26, of Brashear, then struck Lawrence’s vehicle in the side.
Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner, Jeff Doss, at 7:15 p.m. Fulk received moderate injuries in the head on collision and was transported by the Air Evac Team to the University Hospital in Columbia. Shaver received minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
Hoover was not injured in the accident.
Both vehicles involved in the head on collision were listed as total losses.
MSHP, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Ambulance, Knox County Fire Department, Knox County First Responders, Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Ambulance, Adair County Fire Department, Adair County First Responders and the Air Evac Team responded to the call. This is the third fatal accident to happen in the Troop B area since the beginning of 2012.
