Bigger, Better Carnival Coming To Corn Fest

By Echo Menges

There’s a new carnival coming to the Knox County Corn Festival in Edina this year.

According to Knox County Promotional Council board member Jeff Doss, a company called Minnesota’s Magic Midway Inc. owned by Evan “Skip” Reinke is contracted to bring a dozen rides to this year’s Knox County Corn Festival September 7-9, 2012. The company is family owned and has been operating carnivals throughout the Midwest for over 50 years.

“The carnival will take up two city blocks during the festival and will be about double the size of last year’s carnival. Six rides will be geared for children and six rides will be geared for adults. Plus there will be games and some concessions that aren’t already offered by our venders,” said Doss.

The Corn Festival Carnival will be located on North Fourth and East Clay Streets. It will begin at the North Fourth and Monticello Streets intersection, in front of the Life of Christ Church and fill the street north to East Clay where it will wrap around the southeast corner of the Knox County Community Center and fill East Clay Street west to the Edina water tower.

“Daily and weekly armbands are already being sold at a greatly discounted rate at locations in Edina,” said Doss. “People who purchase them early will save close to fifty percent of what they will pay at the event.”
