Knox Municipal Election Results – School Board Members Elected – Rock Tax Defeated At The Polls
According to an unofficial Election Report from the Knox County Clerk, Marlene Spory, votes from every precinct have been counted and 865 voters have made their way to the polls for the General Municipal Election held Tuesday, April 2, 2013. There are 2899 registered voters in the county.
The Knox County Proposition, more commonly known as the “Rock Tax” was defeated at the polls with 460 “NO” votes and 392 “YES” votes. 54 percent of Knox County voters prevailed over 46 percent who wanted the tax to pass.
Also, a new Knox County School Dist 1 Board member has been elected, Nathan Shinkle, 37, of Novelty took 39 percent of the votes with 631 votes.
Returning Board member Shelly Bugh, 50, of Edina took 27 percent of the votes with 431 votes.
