Terrible Turnout In Knox Municipal Election So Far…
Posted Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 3:00 p.m.
Knox County, Missouri, has held the highest voter turnout percentages in the state through 2014, but the April 7, 2015, Municipal Election is looking dismal.
According to Knox County Clerk Marlene Spory, who oversees all elections in Knox County, as of 2:00 p.m. on Election Day less than one percent of Knox County voters have made their way to the polls.
The low voter turnout is likely due to lack of choices on the ballot as many townships had no one sign up for open seats and only blank “write-in” slots are available for voters to choose from and this Municipal Election is an “off cycle” election.
Despite the low turnout the cost of the election will not change and Knox County tax payers will foot the over $15,000 bill.
This off cycle election in Knox County will undoubtedly be a very few deciding for many.
The polls will close at 7:00 p.m. so there’s still a little time.
We will bring you the Municipal Election results when they become available this evening.
