Clark County Sends Five, Highland Four To Class 3 State Track & Field Meet

Renae Buschling won the Montgomery County Class 3 Sectional girl’s 3200 meter event in 12:20.89 seconds.
Clark County qualified five competitors in four events for the Class 3-5 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 29-30, 2015 at Jefferson City.
The top four Sectional finishers in each event qualify for the state track meet.
Renae Buschling took the silver medal in the girl’s 1600m run in 5:31.56 seconds. Jessica Roberts qualified third in the girl’s discus at 106’1”.
Clark County’s girl’s 4x800m relay team qualified with silver medals in 10:21.38 seconds. Renae Buschling, Rachel Buschling, Keelie O’Brien and Drenda Hess punched their tickets to the state track meet.
Highland senior Avery Johnson won a bronze medal in the girl’s 800m run with a time of 2:29.33 seconds.
The Lady Cougar 4x200m relay team of Amber Garner, Avery Johnson, Justice Sly and Charnice Smith qualified fourth in 1:51.40 seconds.
St. Louis McCluer South-Berkeley won the Montgomery County Sectional girl’s championship with 100 points. Montgomery County was second with 63 points.
Clark County finished sixth overall with 44 points. Highland was 14th with 20 points.
McCluer South-Berkeley completed the Sectional sweep, winning the boy’s team championship with 104 points.
Clark County or Highland did not score on the boy’s side and were not listed in the final results.
Highland junior Justice Sly placed seventh in the girl’s 100m dash in 13.10 seconds. The winning time was 11.95 seconds. Sly placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 26.83 seconds.
Clarence Cannon Conference girl’s MVP Tannesha Edwards of Macon qualified in the 200m and 400m dash.
Highland’s girl’s 4x100m relay team of Iesha Clay, Justice Sly, Amber Garner and Charnice Smith placed sixth with a time of 53.83 seconds.
Clark County’s girl’s 4x200m relay team of Vanessa Schmeizer, Maggie Schutte, Tressa Campbell and Carissa Bevans placed seventh in 1:54.50 seconds.
The Lady Indian 4x400m relay team of Drenda Hess, Anna Ross, Abby Brown and Carissa Bevans placed sixth in 4:17.81 seconds. Anna Ross placed sixth in the Class 3 girl’s triple jump at 32’3½”.
Morgan Flood placed fifth for Clark County in the girl’s shot put at 34’8½”.
Highland’s boy’s 4x200m relay team of Dustin Wakefield, David Schmidt, Dalton Sparks and Drew Lair did not finish their Sectional event.
