Woman Killed After Vehicle Is Swept Away In Lewis County

Breaking News:

According to information released by the Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish, on July 12, 2015, EMS and law enforcement responded to a vehicle submerged in Reddish Branch north of Lewistown.

The body of Leanett Phillips was recovered down stream from the submerged vehicle.

Phillips’ vehicle was apparently pulled into the creek by the a fast moving a fast moving current 190th Street, a Lewis County gravel road, while the creek was flooded.

Phillips and a passenger were inside the vehicle when it was swept away.

The passenger of the vehicle survived. Their name has not been released.

Phillips was pronounced deceased at noon July 12, 2015, by the Lewis County Coroner, Larry Arnold.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is the primary investigating agency at this time. An autopsy of Mrs. Phillips is pending.
