A new concentrated animal feeding operation is under construction on the Knox/Lewis County line just inside Lewis County.
According to one of the project owners, the project began in August of this year and the facility is expected to be operational by the end of the year. The operation will house nearly 7,500 pigs.
The Knox County farmers were unable to build in Knox County because of the Knox County Health Ordinance. They decided to build in Lewis County because there is not a Health Ordinance in Lewis County.
