Animal Cruelty Task Force Investigation Leads To Animal Abuse Charge

According to court documents, on Monday, February 1, 2016 the Knox County Prosecutor filed a Class A misdemeanor charge of animal abuse against Darlene J. McClung, 43, of Baring, MO.

The charge stems from an investigation conducted by the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force in June and July of 2015.

McClung is accused of failing to provide adequate care for a Shih Tzu type canine, which resulted in the animal having to be euthanized after being found “unresponsive” the task force investigator.

A distressed cat was also found. The animal was treated locally and delivered to a pet adoption agency in Lincoln County for rehoming.

McClung is scheduled to appear in Knox County Court before Judge Tom Redington for an arraignment on February 23, 2016.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. Darlene McClung is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
