Special Meeting Called for Edina City Council

A special Edina City Council meeting has been called by Edina Mayor Eric Hunolt at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

According to the meeting agenda, the City Council will be reviewing the contract with the Knox County Community Center. The City of Edina has agreed to pay the Community Center $2,000 per year. Should the Council decide to back out of the agreement they need to notify the Community Center representatives in writing at least 60-days prior to the expiration of the contract, which will be on August 10, 2016.

The annual agreement stemmed from a letter of support written prior to the construction of the Community Center in which the Edina Mayor, David Strickler, pledged reimbursement for water fees, touting the need of the center and pledging support from the City. If the Council opts to back out of the agreement, they will need to do it before the next regular meeting.

The other item on the agenda for the special meeting is the review of Ordinance 548 pertaining to mandatory demolition, repair and maintenance of buildings within the Edina City Limits.

This meeting is open to the public.
