Highway Improvement – MoDot crews completed the turn lane and shoulder improvements at the intersection of Heritage Lane and Highway 6 for Highland Elementary School traffic near Ewing for safer travel for Lewis County C-1 children and staff and drivers on the highway.
9-11 Book Penned – LaBelle author, Nona Kilgore Bauer wrote a new book entitled, “Dog Heroes of September 11th” about the search and recovery dogs that worked following the 9-11 terrorist attacks on America. This beautiful book is filled with the stories of several dogs working the horrific scenes in the days we can’t forget in America’s history. The book was published by Kennel Club Books, a division of Bowtie Press, Inc. and can be found on the shelf of the LaBelle Library. Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani wrote the forward for “Dog Heroes of September 11th” NOTE: The tenth anniversary edition of this book is available for purchase. More than 100,000 copies have been sold.
MO NOW – “Missouri Newarks of the World” have been making plans for Newarkers to gather in Newark, Missouri, on October 4-7.
31st Lewis County Fair – Supercross ATV races, demo derby, co-ed volleyball, carnival, live music, Jackson Weightlifting Club, and cowboys in the Bull Buck-off event will featured attractions during the 2006 LC Fair.
New Building – Work was progressing on the Lewis County Mutual Insurance Agency in its new location between County Market Express and $MART on Highway 6 in Lewistown.
