Knox Native Charged With Rape in Boone County, Criminal Charges Mounting

According to information released by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Chad Arment, 37, of Columbia (formerly of Edina), was arrested and charged with two Class C felony counts of second degree rape and two Class C felony counts of assault in the 13th Judicial Circuit, case number 16BA-CR02824.

According to court documents, Arment allegedly sexually and physically assaulted the victim over a four-day period earlier in August and turned himself in on August 16, 2016. The warrant for his most recent arrest was issued on August 12.

Arment, a Knox County native, was convicted of sexual misconduct in 2006 after an incident with a 36-year-old woman in the Kansas City area in 2003. He is required to register as a sex offender in the State of Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry.

Currently, Arment is serving five years of supervised probation. He plead guilty to three felony counts of forgery in the 15th Judicial Circuit, Lafayette County, MO, exactly one year ago after being caught passing and trying to pass counterfeit one-hundred-dollar-bills. He is scheduled to appear for a probation violation hearing on that case, number 15LF-CR00137-01, on September 6, 2016 in Lafayette County Circuit Court. He is facing a sentence of 15 years in prison for each conviction.

There is also another open case against Arment in Boone County, number 16BA-CR02017-01, in which he was originally charged with a Class C felony count of burglary in June of this year. The Boone County Prosecutor has since filed a slew of new charges including six assault or domestic assault, three endangering the welfare of a child and five counts of property damage, all of them are classified as misdemeanor charges.

Arment was arraigned on this case on Monday, August 22, 2016, in Boone County Circuit Court. He entered pleas of not guilty.

Chad Arment is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
