Becker Takes Sheriff’s Seat in Knox

The Knox County Sheriff’s seat was won on Election Day by only 70 votes by challenger Robert Becker (R) with 968 votes over incumbent Allen Gudehus (D) with 898 votes.

In the Western District Commissioner race, incumbent Roger Parton (D) won with 552 votes over Wayne Ray (D) with 340 votes.

In the Public Administrator race, incumbent Theresa Allen-Hamlin (R) won with 1,192 votes over Matthew Kriegshauser (D) with 645 votes.

In the Coroner race, where the incumbent was not on this ticket, Alan Rimer (D) won with 1,347 votes over James Hamlin (R) with 475 votes.

For U.S. President, Donald Trump (R) received 1,413 votes to 379 for Hilary Clinton (D).

Nearly 76% of Knox County voters turned out for this election. Of the 2,510 registered voters in Knox County, 1,905 turned out, according to information released by the Knox County Clerk Marlene Spory.
