Two Head-On Collisions on Highway 15 in Knox County

There were two head on collisions on Highway 15 in Knox County on Monday, January 22, 2018, according to crash reports issued by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The crash scenes were 6.6 miles apart and happened 8 hours and 25 minutes apart.

Injuries were sustained in both.

The first crash occurred at approximately 7:05 a.m. one mile south of Edina when a southbound 2012 Ford Fusion being driven by Loren Carriker, 74, of Edina crossed the center line and struck a northbound 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis being driven by Nicholas McCarty, 19, of Hurdland.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. They sustained minor injuries in the crash. Carriker was treated and released at the scene and McCarty was taken to the Scotland County Hospital by private vehicle.

MSHP, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Rescue Squad and the Knox County Ambulance District responded to the call.

The second crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. two miles south of Baring when a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by Edwin Haldeman, 28, of Rutledge, crossed the center line of the highway and struck a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Colorado being driven by Matthew Neagle, 26, of Edina.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Haldeman sustained serous injuries in the crash and Neagle sustained moderate injuries. The drivers were transported to the Northeast Missouri Regional Medical Center in Kirksville by the Knox County Ambulance District.

MSHP, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Baring Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call.
