Ewing Boy Injured in Dirt Bike Crash in Rural Knox County
According to the Knox County Sheriff Robert Becker, a Lewis County child was riding on a dirt bike in an open field when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned in southern Knox County Thursday morning, May 31, 2018. The crash occurred off Trail Creek Avenue between Novelty and Newark in rural Knox County at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The Sheriff was the first emergency responder to arrive on the scene and found the child unconscious but breathing.
The child was riding while his father farmed nearby. His father called for help following the crash.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, the child involved in the crash is Denton V. Daggs, 12, of Ewing. Daggs sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was riding a 2014 Honda CRF 125 Dirt Bike.
Daggs was taken by helicopter to the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
The Novelty/Plevna Volunteer Fired Department, Knox County Ambulance District, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Air Evac Team and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the call.
