Committees Choose Commissioner Candidates to be on the November Ballot

Edina, Missouri – August 20, 2018 – The Knox County Republican Committee and Democratic Committee have convened to select candidates to include on the November General Election Ballot and recommend Missouri Governor Mike Parson, for an interim appointment, for the open position of Knox County Eastern District Commissioner, according to representatives of both.

The Republican Committee met in the Knox County Commissioners’ Chambers at the courthouse in Edina on Saturday morning, August 18. After interviewing four candidates, Mike Peters, David Whan, Ronald Leckbee and Steve Miller, the committee chose Ronald Leckbee.

The Democratic Committee met at the law office of Corey Moon on Monday night, August 20. After interviewing four candidates, Bill Gosney, Jerry Reeves, Ryan Mason and Mike Peters, the committee chose Jerry Reeves.

Knox County voters in the Eastern District will have the opportunity to vote on either candidate in November. The winner of the election will fulfill the term of Eastern District Commissioner Mike Fox. Fox’s resignation from the office goes into effect at the end of the day on Thursday, August 23.

According to a representative of the Democratic Party, the Governor could appoint a candidate as early as the end of the month ahead of the November election.
