Lincoln Co. R-III School Dist. Announces New Principal Hire from Knox County
Edina, MO – Tuesday, February 26, 2019 – It has been announced by the Lincoln County R-III School District that Knox County High School Principal Brian Brown will be moving on from the Knox County R-1 School District.
Brown will be the new Troy Buchanan High School Principal starting July 1, 2019. His last day at the KCR-1 School District will be on June 30, according to Brown.
“I’m proud of the things we’ve accomplished here over the last five years. I think the relationships we’ve built are lasting relationships and positive relationships – and that’s the hardest thing to say goodbye to,” said KCHS Principal Brian Brown.

Troy, MO – Following an extensive interview process, including input from students, parents and employees, the Lincoln County R-III Board of Education and Superintendent Penny are pleased to announce Mr. Brian Brown, Ed.S. as the next leader of Troy Buchanan High School beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. Mr. Brown has accepted the principalship following the retirement of Dr. Jerry Raines and is looking forward to partnering with Dr. Raines and the current administration to prepare for a July 1st start date.
Most recently serving as Principal for Knox County R-I High School, Mr. Brown brings 14 years of experience in education to the R-III District. As a school and instructional leader, Mr. Brown worked collaboratively with his team to realize growth in APR, attain success through re-designed learning spaces, and achieve the designation of “Apple Distinguished School”.
Mr. Brown received his undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, from Truman State University in 2001. Through a desire to continue his education he earned the following graduate degrees; Master of Arts in Education – Secondary Administration (2014, William Woods University) and Education Specialist (2017, William Woods University).
While in Knox County, Mr. Brown served as a founding member and President of “Grow Knox County,” a non-profit 501(c)(3) whose focus is on economic development and community service. As a career-long rural educator, he understands the importance of a positive relationship between public education and the local community. Mr. Brown believes that it is critical for an effective leader to live in the community they serve, understand the challenges and opportunities they face, and execute sound, effective solutions in order to continually improve both the school and the community in which they work and live. Joining Mr. Brown in this transition are his wife, Erin, and two children, Teryn (12) and Brooks (4).
