Stranded Motorist Rescued with Boat, Emergency Responders Ask Public to Avoid Water Covered Roadways

Knox County, MO – Saturday, March 30, 2019 – Knox County First Responders were called to the site of a stranded motorist at approximately 7:00 p.m.
According to a member of the Knox County Rescue Squad, a motorist tried to travel through a water-covered roadway and stalled out in about three feet of water on Falcon Road, which is south of Colony and about ten miles east of Baring.
He was driving a Ford F-150.
“He was cold, but he was okay,” said Knox County Rescue Squad member Tom Boatman. “We had to take a boat out to get him.”
After the driver was rescued, the vehicle was left on the roadway.
“The tow truck didn’t have enough cable to get to it,” said Boatman. “We need to remind the public that it’s not safe to try to cross water-covered roads. Fortunately, this driver was okay.”
The Knox County Rescue Squad, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Knox City and Baring Volunteer Fire Departments, Knox County Ambulance District and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the call.
