48-Hour Boil Order in Effect in Northeast Knox County

Knox County, MO – Friday, September 20, 2019 – A Boil Order is in effect for 48-hours from 12:00 p.m. on September 20, 2019, to 12:00 p.m. on September 22, 2019, for County Road 194 North to Highway K and Highway M in Knox County, MO, for water customers who have had their water service restored.

According to Gary Mallett, Manager of the Knox County Public Water Supply District No. 1, Knox County R-1 Schools and the Knox County Nursing Home only experienced low water pressure and the Boil Order does not apply to those two entities.

According to KCR-1 Superintendent Andy Turgeon, the school district lost water service for about one hour from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Friday. According to a representative of the Knox County Nursing Home, water loss was experienced at about the same time. Water service has been restored to both entities, however, an undetermined number of KCPWSD customers in the Colony area were without water at 1:45 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Once water is restored to those customers, a 48-hour boil order will be in effect, which will begin at the time service is restored.

The disruption in water service was caused by digging near Highway K in the Colony area, according to Mallett.
