Brashear took advantage of Novinger turnovers, reeling off a 16-2 second quarter run to a 28-13 halftime lead. The seventh seeded Tigers outscored the second seeded Wildcats 16-10 in the third period, for a 44-23 lead after three quarters.
Brandon Jochimsen scored a game high 27 points in a 58-40 Milan Tournament first round win. Garrett Housman scored 13, Quin Allen put in 12 and Cody Mallett added two Tiger points.
Chayton Baird scored 13 points for Novinger. Chris Sandstrom added ten Wildcat points.
Linn County took a 43-40 win over the Brashear girls in the Milan Tournament first round. Alexa Higgins led the Tigers with 14 points and seven rebounds. Kynleigh White was in double figures with 11 points.
Tanna Garlock scored six points with six rebounds. Hannah Grissom posted five assists and five rebounds.
Brashear played Marceline in the boys championship semifinal round. The Lady Tigers took on conference rival Bucklin/Macon County in the consolation round.
