Westran reeled off a 13-4 third quarter run then sank 12 fourth quarter free throws for a 49-42 win at Knox County (2-6, 0-2) in December 20, 2019 Lewis and Clark Conference boys action at Knox County.
Trey Burton fired in a game high 32 Hornet points. Westran opened a 12-8 first quarter lead. Knox County responded with an 18-12 second quarter, taking the halftime lead at 26-24.
Westran retook the lead at 37-30 after their third quarter burst. The sides played an even fourth quarter, but the lead was too large to overcome in the 49-42 Westran win.
The teams played a relatively even game. Both sides made 12 field goals. Knox County made five three pointers and allowed four defensively. The difference in the final score came at the free throw line.
Westran made their free throws down the stretch The Hornets went 19-26 overall at the line. Knox County made 5 of 13 free throws. Westran outscored the Eagles 12-2 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
