Monroe City defeated Palmyra for the boys championship of the 77th Annual Tony Lenzini Tournament at Palmyra. The January 20-25, 2020 varsity basketball tournament was plagued by, but ultimately not stopped by weather related postponements.
Palmyra downed Monroe City in the girls championship game by a 66-62 final. Clark County took third place with a 65-50 win over Canton on the girls side. Hannibal defeated Highland by a 57-48 final for the girls consolation championship.
Highland lost to Monroe City by a 65-53 margin in the first round of the girls bracket. The Lady Cougars made the fifth place game with a 72-44 win over Mark Twain. Clark County bested Mark Twain by a 64-34 final in the girls first round.
Fifth seeded Canton toppled Hannibal 50-42 in girls first round play.
Fifth seeded Van-Far beat Hannibal by a 52-47 final in the boys third place game. Van-Far edged Clark County by a 70-68 final in boys first round play. Palmyra topped seventh seeded Highland 58-35 in boys first round action.
Highland got past Mark Twain by a 69-66 final in the boys consolation semifinal round. Clark County stopped Highland 72-61 for the Tony Lenzini Tournament boys consolation championship.
