Knox County Nutrition Site Closes Dining Room, Still Offering Meals for Delivery and Pickup

By Echo Menges

Edina, MO – Tuesday, March 17, 2020 – The Knox County Nutrition Site (KCNS) announced it will be closed to the public for dine-in meal service but will still be offering meals for pickup and delivery beginning on Wednesday, March 18, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The nutrition site will follow the Knox County R-1 School District’s closure timeline, which is through March 31.

“This is something new for us,” said KCNS Director Beth Bacon. “We’ve never had anything like this happen before.”

In order to protect patrons and staff, partons are asked to call ahead and order any meals for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Orders for pickup will be available immediately inside the front door of the nutrition site and the public will not be permitted to enter the building further.

Knox County residents who need a meal delivered are asked to call in and order it between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The telephone number for the KCNS is (660)397-2296.

“We are asking people who have their meals delivered to put a chair right outside or inside their door so delivery people do not have to have contact. Our delivery people will leave the meal on the chair,” said Bacon.

The KCNS staff will continue to make meals Monday through Friday. The suggested donation for a KCNS meal is $5 per meal for anyone over the age of 60.
