Dump Truck Demolished in Crash, Driver Arrested for DWI

Knox County, MO – Wednesday, July 15, 2020 – One man has been arrested for drinking and driving following a dump truck crash south of Edina.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, JP Morrison, 48, of Baring was involved in a single-vehicle crash at approximately 11:17 a.m. 

Morrison was southbound on Highway 15 in a 1992 Freightliner Dump Truck owned by Triple T Transport of Baring when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert and came to rest in the ditch two miles south of Edina.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and received minor injuries in the crash. The dump truck was a total loss. 

According to an MSHP arrest report, Morrison was arrested for driving while intoxicated-alcohol and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway immediately following the crash. He was cited and released, before being taken to the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville by a Knox County Ambulance.

The southbound lane of Highway 15 was closed until emergency vehicles could clear the crash scene.

The MSHP, Knox County Rescue Squad, Knox County Ambulance District and Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation. JP Morrison is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
