PEGGY MCMURRY
Peggy McMurry, age 88 formerly of Knox City Missouri, passed away at Blessing Hospital on Tues, Sept 8th from COVID-19.
Surviving are four sisters, Maurine Brady of North Bend, WA, Lois Killian, Sister, Jacksonville, FL, Pauline Lant, Sister, Goddard KS and Delma Round, Sister, Harland, IA, and a niece Susan Isom-Hunziker-Thomas, Niece, Leawood Ks.
Peggy spent the majority of her life as a nurse and caregiver. She spent many years as a nurse and office manager for Dr. Waldo Isom until he passed away in 1973. She also worked as a nurse at Country Aire Nursing Home in Lewistown, Mo. She worked tirelessly to take care of those in need and had a special place in her heart for the elderly. She relocated back to Knox City from St Louis to help care for Lucille Isom until her passing in 1993. She was huge support to Waldo and Lucille Isom in many ways and was considered a member of the Isom family.
She spent many years as the City Clerk for the City of Knox City. She worked tirelessly to get the new sewer system in place before her retirement at age 85. She was a proud citizen of Knox City and worked hard as City Clerk to make a difference.
In November 2019, Peggy moved to Country Aire Nursing Center after the sale of her home in Knox City, Mo. She had many friends there including the staff. As a former caregiver, Peggy had high expectations for her care and she commented that they took very good care of her. Since March 2020, Peggy was confined to her room due to COVID-19. The staff made sure her hummingbird feeder was full so she could enjoy watching her birds.
And many thanks to Kay Stice for her ongoing love and support. Kay was a Godsend to Peggy up until her death. Kay was always willing to run errands, take her to the Doctor and was always a good friend. And to Brenda Sayres for being a good friend and neighbor. Brenda always made sure Peggy had meals at holiday time and provided much support during her move to Senior Housing. She and Peggy remained close friends until Peggy’s passing.
A celebration of life will occur at the Knox City Cemetery 2 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020. Reverend Sandy Browning officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Knox County Nutrition Site. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO, 63537.
