PAUL “TONY” WEBB
Paul Anthony “Tony” Webb, 79, of rural Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday evening, October 15, 2020, at the LaBelle Manor Care in LaBelle, Missouri.
Tony was born on May 9, 1941, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Howard Alexander and Sarah Leota McCabe Webb.
He graduated from the Hurdland High School in the class of 1959 and served his country in the National Guard from 1961-1967.
Tony married Phyllis Ann Billington, in Novinger, Missouri, on April 24, 1965.
They lived southwest of Edina, and Paul worked for Material Services Corporation from May 28, 1959 and retired on May 28, 2008. He first worked as a deckhand, mate, pilot, captain and in 1980 he took the job of port captain at Lockport, Illinois. After retirement Tony and Phyllis returned to Edina and farmed.
They were members of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Edina. He enjoyed farming, reading books and poetry but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Tony is survived by his wife Phyllis Webb of the home south of Edina, Missouri; a son Steven J. and Catherine Webb of Macon, Missouri; two daughters, Mary Margaret and Carey Koppit of Joliet, Illinois, and Janice Kaye and Bernard Papesh of St. James, Missouri; a brother, Dr. John “Mike” and Mary Webb of Edina, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Donna Webb of Ottumwa, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Christopher James Papesh, Joshua Papesh, Andrew Papesh, Nathan Webb, John Webb, Rosemary Webb, Lillian Webb and Rochelle Webb; numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Sarah Webb; two brothers, Thomas Jerome “Tom” Webb, and Joseph Richard Webb; a sister Mary Ann Buellens; and two grandchildren, Taylor Papesh and Lucas Webb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. October 20, 2020, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
Father Simeon Etonu will officiate and music will be provided by Nancy Reardon and Lisa Bowen. Pallbearers will be Nick Webb, Doug Webb, C. J. Papesh, John Webb, Jim Webb and Carey Koppit.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Tony Webb may be left to the Knox County Nutrition Site or the St. Joseph Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
